In this personal project, I rebranded a beloved Hawaiian restaurant in my college town to create a fresh, engaging identity that would attract a broader audience. My goal was to develop a cohesive visual identity and brand narrative that captured the essence of the restaurant’s core values: the spirit of aloha, strong family ties, and a commitment to quality and freshness. The outcome was a revitalized look, a clear brand mission, and strengthened connections with guests, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Client: Kainoa's
Discipline: Brand Identity
Kainoa's Hawaiian Grill, founded by Eric Blair in Thrasher, Arizona, has expanded with a second location in Rexburg, Idaho, since 2018.
As Kainoa's enters an exciting new phase, a refreshed brand identity presents a wonderful opportunity to deepen its connection to core values and attract a wider audience. By highlighting the essence of Hawaiian culture, community, and authenticity, Kainoa's can develop a more compelling and unified brand image that resonates with both new and returning customers.
The strategy for this project was centered around demographic research. I explored the target audience to uncover ways to better connect with them. also immersed myself in Hawaiian and Polynesian culture to ensure the rebrand felt authentic. By understanding Kainoa's core values and mission, I was able to create designs that truly reflect the spirit of the restaurant that resonates with guests.
